Levites Counted for Service

The tasks for the priests and the Levites for taking down the tabernacle of the congregation are shown in chapter 4 in the book of Numbers. In this same book and chapter, God commanded Moses and Aaron to count all sons under the names of Kohath, Gershon and Merari between the ages of thirty and fifty years old for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. When the counts were finished, there were eight thousand five hundred eighty "...to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation" (Numbers 4:47,48).
